This year’s top 16 period characteristics that are becoming more popular.

These are widely sought-after: from wall panelling to ceiling cornices…

Wall panelling, ceiling cornices, and Victorian fireplaces are some of the most popular historical characteristics that are gaining attraction this year, according to the National Association of Interior Designers.

With the hashtag #periodhomestyle being used more than 30,000 times on Instagram, it’s not difficult to conclude that we like period residences. Pages, hashtags, websites, and other resources are devoted to recognising and conserving the beautiful qualities that distinguish a period property from its neighbours.

In order to determine the most popular ones, we tallied the amount of Instagram hashtags associated with each trend, revealing what people are interested in online.

Ceiling cornices are the most popular design on Instagram, with more than 211,550 photos of the classical style being tagged on the platform. We’re not surprised that it’s one of the most popular since it adds a beautiful touch to the corners of spaces where walls and ceilings come together.

Wall panelling (148,410) and wood flooring (110,377) were ranked second and third, respectively.

Interior panelling, in contrast to more transient design trends, is here to stay owing to its timeless appeal as well as the fact that it is a simple DIY project to complete. Timber flooring are also becoming more popular, giving your property a more realistic appearance.

Aside from Victorian fireplaces (21,119), ceiling roses (17,351), and cast-iron radiators (14,516) are the other highly sought-after architectural characteristics. While many people desire to modernise their houses, it seems that some Brits also want to include a touch of heritage into their designs.
