The Gherkin:  If you’re looking for some of the best Architecture in London, ‘the Gherkin’ or 30 St Mary Axe is one of the most iconic commercial skyscrapers in the capital city. Opened in 2004, the Gherkin is 591 feet tall and spreads across 47,950 square metres. The stunning design, courtesy famed architects Norman Foster and Arup Group, has won many awards including the distinction of being “most admired new building” in the world. A highlight of the building is its incredible energy efficiency made possible by natural ventilation, double glazing effect and passive solar heating.

St Pancras Hotel: Located on Euston Road, the St. Pancras Renaissance London Hotel forms the façade of the railway station. The architectural history dates back to 1865 when a design competition was held by the Midland Railway company. A design submitted by George Gilbert Scott was selected and the Midland Grand Hotel opened a wing in 1873. Stunning features include the luxurious Gilbert Scott bar and the extraordinary Grand Staircase.

Leadenhall Building: Standing tall at 122 Leadenhall Street is the majestic skyscraper of Leadenhall Building. Designed by British architectural firm, Rogers Stirk Harbour and partners, the building is also informally called the “Cheesegrater” because of its striking resemblance to the kitchen appliance. The 225-feet tall structure has been built using advanced construction technology including pre-fabrication, steel mega frame and tapered glass façade.

The Shard:  “The Shard,” at 1004 feet, is the tallest building in all of London.  Completed in 2012, the viewing gallery located on the building’s 69th floor offers a 360° view of London. The building featuring neo-futuristic architectural style has been designed by famed Italian architect Renzo Piano. The architect was inspired to create the spire-like structure by an 18th century painting of the London spires, railway lines beside the building as well as masts of ships.
