Bloomsbury Shop Officially Open

Over twenty years ago one of my first jobs was that of a barman in a now closed venue in King Cross. The public`s perception then could not have been more different than it is today. Over the past decade Kings Cross has changed dramatically and it has been a hot bed of activity and regeneration.

It is hard to believe it has been nearly ten years since St Pancras first opened its doors to Eurostar and became central London`s gateway to Europe. This change really gave the regeneration of the area a substantial shot in the arm and Kings Cross St Pancras changed from being a rundown train station to a destination in its own right, a station where you would happily miss a train to shop, dine and drink in some of London`s finest bars and restaurants. The work did not stop there and even today there are multiple cranes as a huge area of underutilised prime land is being turned into high quality residential, office, retail and amenity space, in effect a whole new town is being constructed in the heart of London and I for one think it is wonderful to witness this building boom first hand.

While there is still a way to go till all the cranes disappear now really is the time to be considering investing into the area. The considerable changes will acerbate with the government sell off of 67 Acres to AustralianSuper and the arrival of multinational companies such as Google. The area has never been more in demand and it`s clear from walking the streets that the wind of change in the air has never been stronger. What makes it so attractive is the diverse mix of buildings ranging from the brand new to wonderful period properties offering something that appeals to people from all walks of life. It is a vibrant area with strong community links and if you head just south into North Bloomsbury there are a plethora of quiet garden squares and open spaces providing a quiet oasis in the centre of London.

It is this rich diversity and history that made us really want to become an established part of the area and why we choose it as the location for our second shop in London.
