What is Right to Rent?
We often get asked why certain documents are needed as part of our referencing process, and most of the time it is a UK legal requirement, specifically Right To Rent.
Simply, Right to Rent is a check that we as an estate agent must make to ensure a prospective tenant has the legal right to rent a property in the UK. There are huge repercussions to us as a business if we fail to complete these checks therefore we do have to be vigilant. As part of Right to Rent, Greater London Properties legally have to physically check every passport and visa to ensure they are legitimate and in date to at least 6 months into the contract.
Please note: Any passport or Visa must be viewed by us no sooner than 28 days before the tenancy start date.
